This election year is unique. It is one of the closest and important
elections in history. Bush is in an very weak position due to the war in
Iraq and the economy. It seems that Bush is now claiming terrorists are
planning to disrupt the US election. I think some in the Bush
administration
could be planning to commit terrorist attacks so Bush can declare martial
law and call off the election. No person in the US has the constitutional
authority to call off a nation wide election, not even the President. Any
postponing of elections would have to be done on the local level. It has
happened in the past when bad weather didn't allow people to get to their
polling places. It went off without contest. However, these hints from
Bush
about elections being disrupted by terrorists concert many Americans.
I think there are a few scenarios that Bush is considering in where
he
will try and call off the election.
On plan would go into effect if Kerry wins major battle ground
states
like Ohio, Iowa, Florida and Arkansas. Then whoever is working with Bush
would blow up a few polling places. This would have the effect of scaring
people in the west from the polls and give Bush a reason to ask for
postponement of the election.
Another far fetched scenario is that Bush forces would detonate a
nuclear device in a city on election day if it's going badly for Bush.
Then
he could call this a state of emergency and try to get the results of the
election thrown out.
Yet another scenario is for Bush forces to shoot up a few polling
places
to try and scare people from the polls. Then if Kerry wins, he can claim
that the election was disrupted and it will have to go to the Supreme
Court
eventually.
There are many more scenarios and I would encourage everyone to post
what they think Bush is planning to do on election day. Call up talk radio
and voice them as well. The more people talk about these things, the less
chance they will happen. Ultimately Bush's main strategy is to send this
to
the Supreme Court like last time. Bush has put together an army of lawyers
to sue in order to steal the election. If we raise enough hell, Bush will
have nowhere to go.
