Does the SALE of a private radion warrent national attention? The way you
make it sound it as if blacks, ahem, "never been to African Americans"
would
not benifit from news and faith based teaching. The shows they were airing
were anti-white, and racist.

Drudge likes to re****t when a black or ethnic station is taken over
by Air America Radio. But I bet he won't re****t about when they are
taken over by a conservative group!

WQBH-AM fans dismayed to learn about sale of station

By Susan Whitall / The Detroit News

No longer will there be “toasting time” or greetings to the blue-collar
workers. “The Queen” has finally been silenced with the sale of WQBH-AM
(1400) — “Detroit’s Only Community Radio Station” — to California-based
Salem Communications.

The sale, which must still be approved by the Federal Communications
Commission, was met with surprise and dismay from Detroiters.

“It’s the end of an era,” says Ron Scott, community activist and host of
the talk show “For My People” on WKBD-TV (Channel 50). “It’s unfortunate
that everything that ‘The Queen’ represented and fought for —
representing black radio — is now being lost in the dust to be eaten up
by some right-wing, ranting and raving radio types.”

Over the years, WQBH also was known for airing talk shows of interest to
African Americans. Its music mix was a blend of rhythm and blues,
authentic blues and traditional and contem****ary gospel music.

Salem Communications owns 92 radio stations nationwide, many of which
are considered Christian “talk and teach” stations that broadcast
sermons and Bible study. They also run a conservative news talk format
as well as a Christian music format called the Fish.
