You knew if it involved voter intimidation, it would be from the
Republicans. In South Dakota, Republican "poll watchers" have been ordered
by a federal judge to stop intimidating Indian voters.
The Republican "poll watchers" have been seen taking pictures of the
license plates of Indians as they arrive at the polls in their cars. They
have also been seen following Indians home from the polls. In one case an
elderly Indian woman was halted in the polling place and ordered to
produce
her ID. She didn't have it. The state law in South Dakota says if no ID is
available, an affidavit may be signed and voting allowed. The Indian woman
asked to sign the document but the poll worker refused to give her one.
The
Indian Woman was forced to return home and get her ID she was then allowed
to vote.

These intimidation tactics are being widely documented. Republicans
will be shooting themselves in the foot as these stories get around before
the polls close. Some folk may be driven to vote for Kerry.
