SONG OF THE SEA by Sharon Knight
(Trance Jam Records € www.sharonknight.net)

Sharon Knight

Romantic and fanciful, but with enough grit to give it punch, Sharon's
music may well be charting a path toward making folkloric preservation
cool.
To this end, she has turned her lifelong fascination with ancient Celtic
lore into a set of recordings, workshops and concerts that she feels will
give listeners a taste of the Celtic folk soul.

Sharon says her art stems from a deep desire to live in a more magical
world - by magical, she means "possessed of a deep sense of connection to
the earth, seeing the world as alive and interconnected, and aware of
subtle
energies as yet unseen by the human eye."

In live performances, Sharon sings and plays guitar, mandola, and
percussion. She is accompanied by producer and collaborator Winter on
guitar, and, for more elaborate shows, she is backed by a clan of
accomplished musicians, featuring such instrumentation as violin,
mandocello, tin whistle, Uilleann pipes, bodhran, dumbek, oud, bass and
drums.

Song of the Sea

Sharon has long been inspired by the fierce and passionate spirit of
the
Celts, and this is reflected powerfully in her music. Her latest release,
Song of the Sea, features lyrical tales of muses and sirens, magical
spells,
pirates, phoenixes and otherworldly heroes. Lushly produced at El Mundo
Bueno Studios in San Francisco, this predominantly acoustic album features
sometimes powerful, sometimes ethereal vocals and striking poetic imagery,
supported by an instrumental framework of guitar, mandocello, violin,
Uilleann pipes, Irish whistles and piano.

Song of the Sea evokes the indomitable spirit of the Celts and reminds
us how delightful it can be to view the world through enchanted eyes. Fans
of Stevie Nicks and Loreena McKennitt will find musical kinship with
Sharon's shimmering vocals and lush instrumentation, while Lord of the
Rings
and Harry Potter devotees will resonate with the mythic themes evoked by
her
vivid poetic imagery. The CD offers a window through which listeners can
glimpse the mystic beauty of the Celtic folk soul.

SONG OF THE SEA is nationally distributed to stores by Goldenrod,
Ladyslipper, Abyss/Azure Green, and more, and also available at Amazon,
CDBaby, and many more
