KINDLE A FLAME by Mystic Harmony

KINDLE A FLAME

Mystic Harmonyıs new CD is a Celtic-inspired spiritual and musical
journey, featuring three simply superb feminine voices supported by Celtic
harp, flute, pennywhistle, keyboard, guitar, upright and electric basses,
and a variety of ethnic and contemporary percussion. The arrangements
range
from spacious and delicate to intricate and lavish; but because each sets
a
tone that is both calming and inspiring, the entire album flows smoothly
from first note to last.

MYSTIC HARMONY

Mystic Harmony is a trio of musicians based in Northern Virginia who
play Celtic-influenced folk music; their songs combine both old and new
melodies with words that offer inspiration and comfort to the listener.

Mary Anne Brundage (lead vocals, Celtic harp, guitar) started singing
in
England, her first solo being ³Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star² for the
Kindergarten class play. After her family relocated to Washington DC, at
age
10 she picked up the guitar and began to accompany herself; during high
school she regularly sang and played with her brother, Denis, at
coffeehouses. Mary Anne sang her first opera in high school and
participated
in some musical revues in college. Although folk music has always been her
first love, she went on to pursue classical training, receiving both
undergraduate and masters degrees in music performance. Most of her active
performing life has been in the church music scene, either as a soloist or
music director. She discovered the harp in 1999 and has been smitten ever
since.

Janet Booth (harmony vocals, flute, whistle) has worked in hospice and
palliative care nursing for over 17 years in the metropolitan Washington
area. After a 20-year hiatus from playing the flute, she picked it up
again
5 years ago to play occasionally for church services. She now considers
herself a ³poster child² for adults who decide to go after new and
unexpected dreams in their late 40ıs.

Janice Mawson (harmony vocals, grand piano, keyboards) grew up in
Grand
Rapids, MI, and began piano lessons at age six. Throughout her school
years,
Janice played for church services and wedding ceremonies, and participated
in a variety of music groups and national competitions. She paid for her
college education by giving piano lessons, directing a childrenıs choir,
and
singing in many local restaurants. Janice moved to the Washington Metro
area
in 1982 and set aside her musical aspirations in favor of business
pursuits.
But her passion for performing was reignited in 2000 when she was
recruited
to sing at the Lincoln Memorial with ³One Thousand Voices² as part of The
Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts celebration. She was invited to
join
Mystic Harmony soon after, and has never looked back.
