To do what I did you must have the Love Of Polka Music in your blood.
Does anyone remember the "Polka Night Show?" Well I do because I did
that show on WWUH 91.3 FM from The University of Hartford with my good
friend John. Our first time slot at the station was 3 to 6 AM every
Sunday morning. I would get out of work in Waterbury, drive home to
Meriden, go to Johns place in New Britain, and then drive to the station
in Hartford. After the show was over at 6 AM I would drive from Hartford
back to Waterbury and go to work again. When doing the show I would have
to stay awake for 24 hours! If I went to sleep I would never wake up on
time to do the show! Then I got a call from John telling me he had some
good news! We had a new time slot for the show! The station now had us
on the air 12 Midnight to 3 AM Saturday night to Sunday morning! WoW!
You call that good news? I got too old to stay awake for 24 hours, John
got married and the show went off the air. Playing Polka music on the
air at 12 midnight was fun while it lasted. I miss all the people who
used to call the station to keep us awake during the 3 hour show. The
show was also on the Internet and calls would come in from as far away
as Buffalo, New York and Canada! Now those were the Good Old Days for
sure! Thats all for this week Polka Fans! Until next time, Dziekuje
Bardzo, Take Care, And Bog Zaplac! Please read "Connecticut Views" by
Tom Coss each week in the Polish American World newspaper from Baldwin,
New York 11510.
