I did not go to Dick Pillars Polkabration this year because I wanted to
hear the last Polka shows on WRYM and WRTC. I heard that a lot of people
were asking for me at the Mohegan Sun and Im Sorry I missed that great
event. I wiped the tears from my eyes as the Last Polka was played over
the air on both stations followed by the Great Happy Louie singing The
Polish National Anthem and God Bless America from his "Red, White And
Beauty" album! Carl Henry of Newington, who recorded with the John Jeski
Band, said it was a great show. Carl also noted that the song list
showed a lot of planning because of all the good tunes that were played
on both shows. My friend John, who I worked with at WWUH FM also said
that he was sad to hear the Polish National Home was now off the air
after 73 years of broadcasting! Just recently, on Pulaski Day, Jimmy
Sturr did a live broadcast from the PNH in Hartford with his band just
like it was in 1934 with Bob Steele and Walt Solek! And now friends a
great era in radio broadcating has come to an end! We have our memories
and we will never forget the Live radio shows from the PNH in Hartford!
We can always reminisce and console each other! Until next time,
Dziekuje Bardzo, Take Care, And Bog Zaplac! God Bless You ALL! From, Tom
Coss
