John Jeski, accordionist, bandleader, and radio DJ - Announcer died
Sunday, Aug. 19 at Hartford Hospital. Jeski, 53, was born in Hartford.
He attended the Connecticut School of Broadcasting and mastered the
accordion with the late Ted Paszak and Tony Redekas as his music
teachers. World famous accordion player Dick Contino of Las Vegas was
his mentor and helped John to become one of the best accordionist in the
field. One of Johns first jobs was playing accordion with the late Walt
Soleks band from Meriden. He then went on to form his own band in 1974.
Jeski will always be remembered for his radio shows broadcasting a
weekly Polka Party every Saturday and Sunday over WRYM and WRTC Radio
for over 28 years. The sunday show on WRYM was live from the Polish
National Home in Hartford. The PNH was on the air from 1934 with the
late Bob Steele of WTIC Radio until Jeski did his last broadcast this
year making it the longest running remote broadcast in the world for 73
years! The Polish American World sends out Thoughts and Prayes to the
entire Jeski Family of West Hartford including Johns loving wife
Lorraine and his two daughters Stephanie Lynn, and Erica Lorraine Jeski.
John will be missed greatly by his family, friends, and many fans around
the world. May God Bless the Jeski Family in their time of sorrow and
may John Always Rest In Peace, Amen! ~Tom Coss~
