Erdogan is an Islamist who dislikes Turkey's secularism paragraph
in the constitution. Several times he said he wants Islamic Sharia,
ie. an Islamic State like Iran and Saudi Arabia.
Turkey is a secular republic since 1923.
His government has begun to order the women to cover their heads,
to stay away from working and instead to stay at home and "bear at least 3
children"!
They have started also to prohibit the sale of alchohol in many districts.

to ban the governing AKP party, accusing it of anti-secular activities:
