So biofuel is a 'hoax', and 'world is running out of wheat' because of
it...
What is it about these black-and-white sensationalistic stories that
bothers me ?
This feels like there is a 5 year old yelling out some bold statement,
just anything, simply because he is desperate for attention.
Some call it Attention Deficit Disorder, but is annoying. It's not
constructive, it's definitely not a balanced view of the
situation, and if you think about it, is not true either.
Let's use some common sense here, calderhome. We are not living in a
totalitarian state where some despot tells us what to grow.
We living in a self-stabilizing free-market world. If the world is running
out of wheat, then wheat prices go up. If wheat prices go
up, farmers will grow more wheat (and less corn for ethanol), or people
will eat less wheat. Simple as that. Balance will be
achieved by pricing. So bread will get a bit more expensive, what's the
big deal ?
Biofuel cannot really compete with food prices. Fuel is way too cheap for
that (or food too expensive).
Did you ever calculate how much of the retail price of a loaf of bread is
spend on the wheat ?
Or how much of the retail price of a ore of corn is paid to the farmer ?
