The surprise is not that the US would have to quit eventually.  The
surprise is that any national of that hapless client country would
ever want to be the head of a puppet government.  The American cannot
back him forever and without American presence he would immediately
fall from power.  He also has no real power base from which to draw
trusted sup****t and advice in any domestic affair.  He has therefore
to constantly watch his back.  The back stabber can be the American
master.  No one can live like that, not for any amount of money.
Malaki and Kazai are at best caretakers in for the money while it
lasts.  They leave with the Americans if they are smart enough.
