His problem isn't that he's black. It's that by associating himself with 
Jeremiah "God Damn America" Wright, he has shown himself to be 
a subscriber to a very ugly form of anti-white anti-American politics 
that sadly many blacks subscribe to. 

Before "God Damn America" Wright came along Obama was quite 
popular among whites. That wouldn't have been true if his skin color 
alone was a problem.

IMHO a very small number of Americans are too racist to vote for a 
black solely because he's black. 

The insightful Larry Elder describes the "Elvis Factor" which states 
that about 10% of Americans believe that Elvis Presley is still alive. 
IOW 10% of the people will believe *anything* no matter how stupid 
it is. The number of bigots who'd never vote for a black is well within 
the Elvis Factor.
